It
is a Pharaonic City that lies on the eastern bank of the Nile about
20 Km south of Minya . It has 39 rock tombs with many important engravings
which depict daily life during the Middle Kingdom . The most important
are Amenemhat tomb . Khnum Hotep II tomb , Ba`it II and Khety . This
are hosts also numerous red granite pillars of high value and a temple
constructed by Hatschepsut and Thutmasis III known as Istabl Antar
. The Ptolemies called it “ Cave of Artemis “
